Where is our once great country headed? Waco opened my eyes and raised my eyebrows. Other incidents have caught my attention but this raid of the FLDS compound has me scared for the future of our country.
The police state of texas has taken custody of 416 children without evidence of any abuse or crime! The state believed and still believes the ends will justify the means. Here's the problem with that train of thought. For discussion, lets assume the suspicions of the state were correct and every adult who was in the compound is eventually incarcerated. The fact is, these children were taken based upon an obviously manufactured anonymous tip. It would not surprise me if the tipster ends up being a public servant who was involved in the raid.
To skip a few logical targets for brevity, let's protect other children as well. Neighborhoods of predominantly Catholic families, low income crime plagued neighborhoods, trailer parks, neighborhoods based around elementary schools, etc. All of these neighborhoods contain abused and neglected children who are in need of assistance.
How will you react when your child is collected by the state and questioned? Perhaps your child will fail to provide the answer the state wants in which case further detainment and possible relocation would be needed.
Can't or won't happen to you? The proof that it can is unfolding on television in front of your eyes.
I have several friends in law enforcement and plan on asking their views. Then I'll point out that families of police officers are more likely than their neighbors' family to be the subject of abuse or neglect. Post traumatic stress syndrome, substance abuse and domestic violence are well know job related hazards for those who wear the police uniform. The families of police officers are at high risk of abuse and neglect today! Problem is, who are we going to get to raid their houses and detain their children in this police state?
